BETTERMENT ASSOCIATION
The mission of the Little Sodus Bay Betterment Association is to engage, educate, and listen to our Fair Haven Bay New York Community to ensure the well-being of the beautiful asset known to us as Little Sodus Bay.
To accomplish this, we will establish relationships and partner with private individuals, special interest groups, businesses, and local and federal government agencies to make our voice heard and request the assistance of these important resources.
Listed as one of the most beautiful areas of New York State, Little Sodus Bay is located in Fair Haven, New York. Fair Haven is in Cayuga County and is part of the region known as Central New York. We are surrounded by both natural beauty and interesting and exquisite places of interest; from world class museums to wineries to some of the most wholesome foods the world has known. Just a short distance from Syracuse and Rochester, and within an easy drive from all of Upstate New York, Fair Haven and Little Sodus Bay are a treat you do not want to miss.
The Little Sodus Bay Betterment Association is a vibrant group of volunteers dedicated to preserving, promoting and enjoying the bay and surrounding areas. We work with all the various local organizations and businesses to promote awareness of this gift we enjoy and to encourage a thriving community. To that end we have an extensive list of events that we encourage all people to come to and listen, learn and get involved.
We have established several committees with identified leads for each. We will be soliciting for interested volunteers to join these committees.
We also work closely with all aspects of government; from regulation agencies, to groups involved with conservation and finally we attempt to make all aware of how precious this little gem is. The quality of the water in our lakes and streams is highly dependent on the manner in which stormwater runoff is managed. Stormwater runoff is rain or melting snow that instead of seeping into the ground flows over the surface and into a watercourse or waterbody. Along the way, runoff can pick up and transport a variety of substances that pollute receiving waters.
